Six U.S. Air Force F-16CM fighter jets have been redeployed from Misawa Air Base in northern Japan to the Naval Support Facility on Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean. The transfer was supported by several KC-135R/T refueling aircraft from Kadena Air Base.
The British government has rejected a U.S. proposal to use the American air base on Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean for possible military action against Iran. Yvette Cooper, the UK Foreign Secretary, also clarified this position ahead of her meeting with Marco Rubio, stating that Washington should pursue negotiations with Iran rather than resort to bombing.
The US military has stationed B-2 bombers at its airbase on Diego Garcia. In addition to the B-2 bombers, there are also ten KC-135R refueling aircraft and three C-17 transport aircraft at the base.
