Latest Updates on Afghanistan, 8 April 2021
1- Qandahar:
– Taliban rocket attack on Qandahar airport. Taliban reportedly fired six rockets at the airport, targeting army and foreign forces.
– Afghanistan DM reported of cleansing Arghandab district entirely from Taliban. The claim is not true and Taliban still has control on the areas west of northern Qandahar road.
The photos show Arghistan district which was occupied by Taliban after the army retreated in recent months.
2- Helmand:
According to local sources, in recent days conflicts in Helmand province 30 security forces killed and wounded.
3- Badakhshan:
Security forces operation in Nasi district resulted in liberation of villages Qoghaz and Shakh Darrah.
4- Kabul
Due to explosion of a vehicle in Panje Chenar area of Paghman district, three killed and 12 wounded.
5- Herat:
– Due to Taliban’s attack to security forces station in Shindand district, more than 10 killed and 7 wounded.
– Deputies of Iran and Afghanistan FMs agreed on operation of building roads and reconstruction of Dowqarun-Islam Qalaa border port.
6- Khost:
Army operation in northeastern villages of Khost city.
7- According to the Afghan Ministry of Defense, 172 Taliban insurgents were killed and 142 wounded in the past 48 hours in Ghazni, Zabul, Herat, Farah, Badghis, Faryab, Balkh, Badakhshan, Kunduz, Helmand and Kandahar provinces. Also, 379 booby-traps and roadside bombs were detected and defused by the army.
