A look Into Latest Advances Of Ukrainian Army In Southern Front (Map)
Almost three months after the beginning of the Ukrainian operations in the southern fronts of the country, the Ukrainian army succeeded in partial advances in some axes of the Zaporizhia and Donetsk region during these bloody months of costly attacks.
According to official information from the Ukrainian army, some 13 residential areas and about 250 square kilometers have been liberated from the control of Russian forces during the three-month-long operations.
In general, the Ukrainian operations focused on three main axes of Bakhmut, Velyka Novosilka, and Orikhiv areas over the past 90 days.
The latest advance of Ukrainian forces is related to the Orikhiv axis and the Robotyne and Verbove areas, where the two sides witnessed the most severe and costly battles in recent two weeks.
The Russian army has been forced to retreat from Robotyne to Novoprokopivka due to repeated attacks by Ukrainian forces, and now the Verbove area is also at risk of falling.
The Ukrainian army has tried several times to advance towards Verbove but it has not succeeded. Therefore, the Ukrainian army will probably try to force Russian forces stationed in this village and northern areas of the rural area to retreat via bypassing Verbove.
In the Velyka Novosilka axis, after stabilizing Staromaiors’ke and Urozhaine, Ukrainian attacks have decreased in intensity, and ground advances have practically stopped. The clashes in this axis are ongoing through artillery shelling.
In the Bakhmut axis, clashes continue around Klishchiivka, Kurdyumivka, and Andriivka areas. The Ukrainian army has been trying for weeks to take full control of Klishchiivka village.
According to recent developments on the ground, the Ukrainian army has entered Klishchiivka village but clashes continue in the center and north of the region. If Klishchiivka and Kurdyumivka come under Ukrainians’ control, Russian forces in Bakhmut will face a serious problem from the southern axis.
