Following a legal complaint filed by Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) patients, the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) seized the oil cargo of the American ship Advantage Sweet.

The “Advantage Sweet” is a US oil tanker operating under the flag of the Marshall Islands. The armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran had seized the US ship in the Persian Gulf on April 27, 2023 due to maritime violations and a collision with an Iranian vessel that led to the disappearance and injury of several Iranian crew members.

Today, on March 6, a news report has been released indicating that the cargo of this oil tanker, after months of seizure, has been confiscated for the benefit of EB patients in Iran.

It is said that due to sanctions imposed by Western countries, especially the United States, which have prevented the sale of necessary medications for EB patients by a Swedish company, resulting in severe physical and mental harm to these patients; so, they (EB patients in Iran) filed a complaint against the United States at a court in Tehran.

Based on this complaint, legal proceedings initiated by the case’s attorney ultimately led to the court’s ruling to seize the oil cargo of the Advantage Sweet ship in the Persian Gulf, and the cargo of this ship was confiscated for the benefit of EB patients in Iran.
