Bagram Airbase is located in Bagram district and 11 km from Charikar district in Parwan province, which became the largest foreign base in Afghanistan after the US invasion of Afghanistan in 2001.

The base was built in 1950 during the Cold War and has always been the source of conflicts in Afghanistan. After the fall of the communist government in Kabul, Bagram was under the control of the Northern Coalition Forces (Jamiat-e-Islami, Wahdat-e-Islami, Afghan National Movement, etc.) until 1999, when it was captured by the Taliban during attacks in northern Kabul in 2000.

According to ISWNEWS information, the area of this base has reached about 30 kilometers after the development plans of the United States and NATO. Bagram is located 740 km from the Iranian border (Torbat-e Jam) and has always been one of the US threats against Iran and vice versa, one of Iran’s targets against the US.

The base has extensive military, medical, security and other facilities and is currently under the control of the Afghan Army.
