Syrian Army fortifies positions in north Aleppo
ISWNews Analysis Group: In recent days, the Syrian army has sent several military convoys consisting of several tanks and personnel carriers to the northern suburbs of Aleppo, amid the escalation of tensions between YPG and the Turkish-backed militants.
In the recent week, the northern suburbs of Aleppo such as Sheikh Issa, Mar’anaz, Tal Rafat, Minnagh Airbase, etc., has witnessed heavy clashes between the YGP and the Turkish-backed militants. Hence, the Syrian army sent auxiliary forces in the form of several convoys consisting of several tanks and personnel carriers to the town of Tal Rafat in the north of Aleppo.
The so-called Syrian National Army (SNA), a Turkish-backed militant umbrella group, has also stepped up its activities and strengthened its positions in the northern suburbs of Aleppo. For this reason, the Syrian army has prepared its forces in the north of Aleppo in anticipation of an attack by Turkish-backed militants on the mentioned areas.
Local sources said that the Turkish aircraft dropped leaflets on the areas where Kurdish militants were present, warning the imminent operation against Kurdish militants in the town of Tal Rifat and the surrounding areas. On the other hand, Russian aircraft also dropped leaflets on the town of Azaz and Mare’ warned of any new attacks and advances by the Turkish-backed militants in the area.
It is worth mentioning that the Russians are very dissatisfied with the situation in northwestern Syria. The launch of this offensive by the militants and Turkey could be the beginning of an end to the passive behavior of the Russians against the Turkish-backed militants in Syria, so that the case of the Syrian province of Idlib can be handled more quickly.
