Latest Military Developments Of Gaza And Northern Palestine, 17 October 2023 (Map)

On the 11th day of the fighting, there was no special and significant ground conflict around the Gaza Strip. The movements of the Israeli army’s ground forces around the Gaza Strip are currently still defensive.

Rocket attacks on Israeli settlements around the Gaza Strip and further areas continue.

On the northern front, missile and artillery clashes continue between Hezbollah and the Israeli regime. Today, Hezbollah fired several ATGM missiles at Israeli positions, tanks and defense equipment in response to the Israeli army’s attacks on the border areas. According to Hezbollah, in these clashes, a Merkava tank in the village of Shtula, an Israeli military outpost in the Ramim area, an Israeli army vehicle in the Metula area, Israeli army positions in the Kiryat Shemuna area, and a gathering of Israeli soldiers at the border village of the Ramya and Beyaz Belida were attacked and hit by ATGM missiles. Hezbollah claims that as a result of the attacks two Israeli servicemen were definitely killed and another was injured.

The Israeli regime also attacked several areas in southern Lebanon, such as Aitron, Al-Bustana, Misra, Ramiah, Marwahin and Zahira with artillery and incendiary phosphorus bombs. As a result of these attacks, five Hezbollah members were martyred. Also, the International Committee of the Red Cross in Lebanon announced that four Palestinian civilians were martyred as a result of the Israeli army’s artillery attacks on the town of Alama al-Shaab in the south of Lebanon.

In the political sphere, this morning General Michael Eric Korilla, the commander the US Army’s Central Command (CENTCOM) arrived in Tel Aviv at the head of a military delegation. During this trip, he met with Herzi Halevi, Chief of the General Staff of the Israeli Army, and other Israeli defense and military officials. It is said that soon Joe Biden will also travel to Israel.

Another very bitter and important incident that happened in the last hours of this day is the targeting of al-Ma’madani hospital in the Gaza Strip, which led to the martyrdom of more than 500 Palestinians, including a large number of children. This huge crime caused a wide wave of popular protests worldwide and these protests are still ongoing.
