US Plans To Create New Naval Coalition In Red Sea
During his ongoing trip to the West Asia region, the United States Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin intends to announce the creation of a new naval coalition called “Operation Prosperity Guardian” involving several countries.
The aim of this naval coalition is to counter the actions of the resistance axis against the Israeli regime, particularly the Yemeni armed forces, in the Red Sea.
This coalition is similar to the Combined Task Force 153, which was formed in April 2022 to ensure security in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden as well as counter threats from the resistance axis in Yemen.
It is currently unclear which countries will participate in the new naval coalition and what the extent of its operations entails.
A US military official has claimed that the USS Carney destroyer, with the help of the Royal Navy destroyer HMS Diamond, recently shot down 14 drones launched from Yemen. The US official refrained from providing further details about that attack, as it could potentially reveal information about the ammunition reserves of US destroyers.
At present, about one-sixth of the world’s commercial ships pass through the Bab al-Mandab Strait and the Red Sea. In response to Israel’s brutal attacks on the Gaza Strip and the international community’s inaction, the Yemeni armed forces have announced that they will attack Israeli ships and those affiliated with Zionist companies.
This threat, along with the seizure of the Galaxy Leader ship and the attack on at least 12 other ships, has put significant pressure on the Israeli naval fleet, to the point where most shipping companies refrain from cooperating with the Israeli regime and have suspended their activities in the Red Sea.
