US Airstrike On Popular Mobilization Forces Positions Leaves 1 Martyr, 18 Wounded
Following the terrorist US army’s airstrikes on the positions of the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF), one member of this organization was martyred and at least 18 others were wounded.
Early on December 26, the United States’ helicopters carried out attacks on three headquarters of the Popular Mobilization Forces in Babylon, As-Sawira, and Jurf Al-Nasr, resulting in the martyrdom of one Iraqi paramilitary force and the injury of 18 others. Six of the injured belong to the Popular Mobilization Forces, and 12 others are affiliated with the Iraqi Ministry of Defense.
The US terrorist command in the West Asia region (CENTCOM) claimed responsibility for this attack, stating in a statement that CENTCOM forces, on December 25, conducted precise attacks on several headquarters belonging to the Kata’ib Hezbollah in Iraq, in response to repeated attacks against the US-led coalition forces in Iraq and Syria.
General Michael E. Kurilla, the commander of CENTCOM, also stated: These attacks were carried out to respond to the perpetrators responsible for the attacks against the US-led coalition forces in Iraq and Syria and to reduce their capability to continue such attacks.
It should be mentioned that Adrienne Watson, the spokesperson for the US National Security Council, announced that as a result of a drone attack carried out by Iraqi groups against the US base at the Erbil International Airport in northeastern Iraq, three US soldiers were wounded, and one of them is reported to be in critical condition.
According to the analysis made by the IWN, this is the third terrorist US army airstrike against the positions of Iraqi resistance groups in recent weeks. Previously, on November 22, US helicopters targeted one of the positions of the Popular Mobilization Forces in the Jurf Al-Nasr region, resulting in the martyrdom of 8 Iraqi paramilitary forces and the injury of 4 others. A few days after this attack, on December 3, a site belonging to the Iraqi resistance groups in the Dubis district of Kirkuk Governorate was targeted, leading to the martyrdom of five fighters of the Islamic Resistance in Iraq.
The US is well aware that these attacks have no impact on reducing or stopping the resistance forces’ attacks on US bases in Iraq and Syria. The Islamic Resistance in Iraq has repeatedly stated that the only way to decrease these attacks is the end of the occupation of the Palestinian territories as well as the Israeli regime’s attacks on the Gaza Strip. On the other hand, these attacks have increased the pressure of the American public opinion on the US army; so, the US regime is trying to find an answer to persuade the public opinion and rebuild its tarnished image by resorting to a series of attacks.
