Yemen Army Carries Out Fresh Missile, Drone Attack Against US Ships
The naval and air forces of the Yemeni army, in a joint military operation, attacked the US ship Torm Thor in the Gulf of Aden with several ballistic anti-ship missiles and used several suicide drones to attack the US military fleet in the Red Sea.
According to a statement from the US Central Command in West Asia (CENTCOM), at 17:00 Sana’a time on Saturday (February 24) the USS Mason destroyer intercepted a ballistic anti-ship missile launched from areas under the control of the Ansar Allah movement in Yemen towards the Gulf of Aden.
This missile most likely targeted the Torm Thor tanker carrying chemical/oil materials under the US flag. CENTCOM claims that neither the tanker nor the US destroyer were harmed in this attack.
The Torm Thor ship is a tanker carrying chemical and oil materials that has been operating under the US flag since 2015. The ship was last located off the coast of Djibouti, and detailed information about its exact origin and destination is not available.
Brigadier General Yahya Saree, the spokesman for the Yemeni armed forces, described this operation as part of their mission to defend the land and people of Yemen, emphasizing that Yemeni forces will carry out high-quality military operations against all hostile targets in the Red Sea and the Arabian Sea.
He also added that alongside all the great people of Yemen, the Yemeni armed forces will continue their religious, moral, and humanitarian duties concerning the people of Palestine, and that their military operations will not stop until the end of the aggressions against and siege of the Palestinian people living in the Gaza Strip.
