Israel Withdrawing Ground Forces From Certain Areas In Gaza; Is This Military Tactic Or Acceptance Of Hamas’ Conditions?
The Israeli Army Radio announced on April 7 that for the first time since the beginning of the Gaza war, all Israeli ground forces, except for the Nahal Brigade, have withdrawn from the Gaza Strip. Additionally, the Israeli Army’s 98th Division has also retreated from these areas after their operation in Khan Yunis. It is said that the Nahal Brigade will be present in this besieged strip to prevent the return of Palestinian people to the northern Gaza Strip.
In this regard, Channel 14 of the Israeli regime announced that in the coming days, the Israeli army will carry out aerial attacks, and if necessary, a ground attack will be launched.
These news stories have been published while one of the leaders of the Hamas movement had announced on Saturday that a delegation from the movement would go to Cairo on Sunday to discuss issues regarding the developments and ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip. Hamas had earlier stated that any negotiations should be based on the principle of a permanent ceasefire in Gaza.
In addition, on Saturday the Izz ad-Din Al-Qassam Brigades forces carried out a series of operations against Israeli forces in the Al-Zanna area in Khan Yunis, during which 3 tanks were targeted and 9 Israeli soldiers were killed. The Israeli army also admitted on Sunday to the killing of 4 of its soldiers in southern Gaza. It is likely that the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza was due to the high casualties of this regime in recent weeks of confrontation due to pressures from resistance fighters and public opinion in occupied Palestine.
On the other hand, some media outlets of the Israeli regime claimed that the withdrawal of ground forces from the Gaza Strip is in line with preparing the forces for operations in the Rafah area. This claim, considering the US government’s approval in recent days to provide a new arms package to the Tel Aviv regime, including more than 1,800 MK84 2,000-pound bombs and 500 MK82 500-pound bombs, reinforces speculation about an imminent military operation in the Rafah region.
