The Khor Mor (Kormor) gas field in the Chamchamal town of Iraqi Kurdistan region, which is managed by the United Arab Emirate (UAE) company Dana Gas, was targeted in a drone attack by unidentified assailants, resulting in the deaths of 4 people and the injury of 2 others. No group has claimed responsibility for this attack so far.

After this deadly incident, President of Iraq Abdul Latif Rashid strongly condemned the attack on the gas field in Sulaymaniyah city and called for an investigation into the various aspects of the attack and the punishment of the perpetrators.

In this regard, the Iraqi Security Media Cell announced the formation of a technical investigation committee instructed by Prime Minister of Iraq Mohammed Shia’ Al Sudani to unravel the ambiguities of the drone attack on the Khor Mor gas field.

It is worth mentioning that this is the first attack on the Khor Mor gas field since March 21, 2024 and the seventh attack in the same period. After more than two years since the first rocket attack on this gas field, it has not been precisely determined which group is behind such attacks.
