The Prime Minister of Iraq stated in an interview with a US media outlet that the end date of the international coalition’s mission in his country will be announced in the near future.

In the interview with Bloomberg, Mohammed Shi’a al-Sudani underscored that the reasons behind the presence of the US-led international military coalition in Iraq have come to an end, and that Iraq in 2024 is not the similar country as it was in 2014, because the Arab state has transitioned from a phase of conflict to a stage of stability.

The Iraqi premier also asserted that the ISIS terrorist group can no longer pose a threat to the Arab country and mentioned that the Iraqi side commenced frank discussions with the international coalition.

According to the Iraqi official, a bilateral committee has been formed to organize the pull-out of forces affiliated with the international coalition.

The Iraqi Prime Minister further stressed that the termination of the international coalition’s mission in Iraq will be announced before long.

However, he clarified, the issue does not signify the end of relations between Iraq and the United States.

Al-Sudani also noted that Baghdad will respect the choices of the American people in electing their next president and will interact with any administration in Washington.

In conclusion, al-Sudani emphasized that Iran supports the political process in Iraq and the Iraqi nation’s efforts in combating terrorism, and that Iraq is the only country in the West Asia region, which maintains distinct relationships with both Tehran and Washington.
