Syria: Joint exercise of the American occupiers and the Maghawir al-Thura militants + Images
ISWNews Analysis Group: The US-backed Maghawir al-Thura forces conducted a joint military exercise with the United States in the Al-Tanf area, southern Syria.
A spokesman for the Maghawir al-Thura forces said after a joint exercise with US forces at al-Tanf area: “Dealing with Iranian threats to target US bases in the region is the reason for our increased military exercises. Our most dangerous enemy right now is Iran and the Iranian-backed Syrian militias. We are fully prepared to deal with their possible attacks on Al-Tanf.”
This is while the US army is using armed elements to gain control of southeastern Syria and by maintaining its presence in the area is making the western and southwestern regions of Al-Anbar province in Iraq insecure, and in these circumstances, the border triangle “Al-Rutba area, Al-Waleed crossing and Trebil crossing” has become the safe heaven for ISIS elements.
In 2016, US forces were concentrated in Tanf and the Al-Waleed crossing, a strategic crossing on the Baghdad-Damascus highway, was occupied by the United States.
