Yemeni Armed Forces Conduct Missile, Drone Attacks On Six Ships In Mediterranean, Red, Arab Seas

The Yemeni Armed Forces has carried out missile and drone attacks on six ships associated with the Zionist regime as part of their ongoing military operations in the Mediterranean Sea, the Red Sea, and the Arabian Sea.

Brigadier General Yahya Saree, the spokesman for the Yemeni Armed Forces, announced in his statement today that in support of the oppressed Palestinian people and in response to the crimes of the Zionist enemy against the refugees in the Rafah area of the Gaza Strip, and within the framework of the fourth stage of the escalation of military operations, the Yemeni naval, drone, and missile units, with the help of Almighty God, carried out six military operations as follows:

Three military operations in the Red Sea, the first one targeted the LAAX ship, which was directly hit and suffered significant damage. The second and third operations targeted the MOREA and Sea Lady ships, respectively. These three operations were carried out using a number of naval and ballistic missiles, as well as suicide drones, and were successful by the grace of God.

– The Armed Forces also carried out two military operations targeting the ALBA and MAERSK HARTFORD ships belonging to the US in the Arab Sea, using several missiles and suicide drones.

– The sixth military operation was carried out with a number of cruise missiles against the MINERVA ANTONIA ship in the Mediterranean Sea.

All these ships were targeted for violating Yemen’s decision to ban access to the occupied Palestinian ports.

Brigadier General Yahya Saree concluded his statement by saying that the Yemeni Armed Forces, with the help of Almighty God, will not refrain from targeting all ships that cooperate with the Israeli regime within the declared operational area, regardless of their destination, in response to the ongoing crimes of Israel against our Palestinian brothers in the Gaza Strip. He also sent greetings from the Yemeni Armed Forces to the heroic Palestinian resistance in the Gaza Strip and all the free people supporting them in Lebanon and Iraq, and emphasized the continuation of the Yemeni Army’s military operations until the end of the aggression and the lifting of the siege on the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

According to the analysis of the IWN, the information on the ships targeted by the Yemeni army is as follows:

– The LAAX ship is a bulk carrier that has been operating under the Marshall Islands flag since 2012. The ship’s port of origin is Port Said in Egypt, and its destination is Imam Khomeini Port in Iran. According to a report from the British Global Maritime Risk Management Ambrey, this vessel was attacked with three ballistic missiles about 54 nautical miles southwest of the port of Al-Hudaydah. The ship’s captain announced within emergency communications that the missiles had hit the cargo hold, causing water leakage and the tilting of the ship to one side.

– The MOREA is a bulk carrier that has been operating under the Maltese flag since 2015. This ship was moving from Russia to a port in India.

– The bulk carrier Sea Lady has been operating under the Maltese flag since 2016. This ship was moving from the Egyptian Port Said to an unknown destination.

– The ALBA is a bulk carrier under the Portuguese flag that has been operating since 2012. This ship was moving from Oman to Algeria.

– The MAERSK HARTFORD is a container ship under the US flag that has been operating since 2007. The ship’s port of origin was Spain, and it was headed to the port of Jebel Ali in the UAE.

The MINERVA ANTONIA is a chemical/oil tanker that has been operating under the Greek flag since 2008. The ship’s port of origin and destination are recorded as the Suez Canal and the port of Al-Ain Al-Sokhna in Egypt.

The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) in the West Asia region has also claimed that between 12:05 and 13:40 (Sanaa time) on May 28, the Ansar Allah movement launched five anti-ship ballistic missiles (ASBMs) from Yemen towards the Red Sea, three of which were fired at the LAAX vessel, a Greek-owned Marshall Islands-flagged bulk carrier. These missiles hit the LAAX ship, but it was able to continue its voyage. No other damage was reported to any US, coalition, or other commercial vessels.

CENTCOM also claims that in a separate engagement between 10:04 AM and 1:30 PM (Sanaa time), US forces successfully destroyed five suicide drones over the Red Sea.

According to statistics of the IWN, the attacks by the Yemeni Army on the Israeli, US-British coalition, and related ships, which violate Yemen’s orders, include the 89th official military operations to 94th strikes by the Yemeni Armed Forces in the Red Sea, the Arabian Sea, the Mediterranean Sea, and the Indian Ocean.
