The Secretary-General of Kata’ib Hezbollah in Iraq announced the temporary suspension of operations against US terrorist forces in a statement.

Abu Hussein al-Hamidawi, Secretary-General of Kata’ib Hezbollah that is the most powerful faction in the Islamic Resistance in Iraq, issued the statement on January 30, announcing the temporary suspension of attacks against US positions in Syria and Iraq.

Al-Hamidawi emphasized in the statement: Taking a step on the path of jihad is difficult and arduous, and the cost of it is heavy; so, those who take this step will find that the reward of martyrdom, no matter how great, is insignificant in comparison to almighty God’s satisfaction and support for the oppressed. The Islamic Resistance in Iraq’s Kata’ib Hezbollah faction, with its own will and without the interference of others, has decided to support the oppressed and steadfast people of Gaza. Our brothers on the resistance axis, especially in the Islamic Republic of Iran, are not exactly aware of our jihadi work, and they were very opposed to the pressure and tension against the US occupying forces in Iraq and Syria. We acted with wisdom and prudence in our adherence to our human and ideological duty, and in the most difficult and harshest conditions, we carefully observed the religious and moral standards.

In the final section of the statement, it is emphasized: In order to prevent the embarrassment of the Iraqi government, we declare the suspension of military and security operations against the occupying forces, and we will continue to defend our people in Gaza in other ways. We recommend the brave and free fighters of Kata’ib Hezbollah to temporarily act in a defensive manner in the event of any hostile US action against them.

It seems that the cessation of attacks against the US positions is due to a request by the government of Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ Al Sudani, especially after the recent Baghdad-Washington agreement for the withdrawal of US troops from Iraq; so far, no details have been released about the reason for this decision by the resistance group, and certainly in the coming days, more dimensions will be revealed in this regard.
