On Sunday morning, warplanes of the Israeli regime’s army attacked areas in southern Syria. The Syrian army’s defense forces have succeeded in intercepting some Israeli missiles.

Israeli media outlets claimed that in this attack, the Israeli regime targeted Hezbollah’s weapon depots in the Yabroud area and the military airport of Al-Nasiriyah located in northern Damascus area.

However, a Syrian military source said in a statement that around 00:42 a.m. local time, the Israeli regime’s army launched an airstrike from the occupied Golan Heights and targeted some points in the south. The source added that Syrian air defense forces intercepted Israeli missiles and shot down some of them. As a result of the strike or fall of some of these missiles, a Syrian soldier was injured, and material damage occurred.

Yabroud is one of the northern cities in the Rif Dimashq Governorate, located between the cities of Homs and Damascus. The Yabroud city is near the Lebanese border, but its ground connection is possible through the Damascus-Homs road. Yabroud was liberated with the help of Hezbollah forces during the war in Syria and is currently under the control of the Syrian government and army.

Al-Naseriyah airport is also one of the Syrian army’s military airports, located on a road from Damascus towards eastern Syria, with several military positions in its vicinity. Considering the Israeli regime’s history of attacks on Syria, it is likely that the aim of this attack was to destroy important ammunition and weapons depots of resistance groups in the Arab country, though according to the Syrian military source, it has not resulted in any specific outcome.
