CENTCOM Commander Meets Syrian Officials in Damascus

Abu Muhammad al-Julani, head of the Syrian transitional government, met with Charles Brad Cooper, commander of CENTCOM, in Damascus yesterday. The meeting included U.S. special envoy Thomas Barrack and several Syrian officials.
They discussed joint cooperation to enhance security and stability in Syria and the region, highlighting the importance of strengthening bilateral relations.
This encounter reflects Syria’s interest in rebuilding ties with global powers and seeking agreements to lift sanctions and improve its economy. Strengthening communication with Washington may facilitate better international relations with Western countries.
