Senior U.S. Officials Visit Gaza to Oversee Implementation of Agreement with Hamas
Steve Witkoff, U.S. Special Envoy for West Asia, along with General Charles Brad Cooper, commander of U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), visited an Israeli military base in the Gaza Strip. The visit was attended by Eyal Zamir, Chief of Staff of the Israeli Army, and several senior Israeli commanders. The purpose of the visit was to assess the Israeli army’s withdrawal from areas designated in the recent agreement with Hamas.
According to a statement from the Israeli military, American and Israeli officials also visited the Re’im military base following their field inspection in Gaza. This base has been designated for initial medical evaluations of released Israeli captives.
Cooper and Halevi held a meeting with senior Israeli military officials to review operational conditions across various regions and discuss the implementation of ceasefire terms and prisoner release protocols.
