Yemen Army Carries Out Attacks On US Navy Ships, Israeli Regime’s Vessels
The Yemeni Armed Forces launched missile and drone attacks on US Navy warships and two vessels belonging to Israel in three separate operations.
Brigadier General Yahya Saree, the spokesman for the Yemeni Armed Forces, stated early Tuesday morning, May 1, the details of the latest attacks by the Yemeni Army on vessels affiliated with the Israeli regime and the US naval fleet.
According to the statement, the Yemeni Armed Forces targeted two US destroyers using a number of kamikaze drones in a military operation against the warships of the US-British coalition in the Red Sea.
Additionally, the Yemeni naval, missile, and air forces also jointly targeted the vessel Cyclades in the Red Sea. This bulk carrier vessel was targeted after it deceptively and covertly claimed to be heading to another port on April 21, in order to bypass the prohibited passage of ships heading to the occupied Palestinian port in Umm al-Rashrash or Eilat. However, after monitoring and following up, warnings were issued to the vessel not to enter the occupied Palestinian ports, and it was added to the list of targeted ships.
Brigadier General Yahya Saree also referred to another operation, stating that the Yemeni Air Force, with the help of God Almighty, targeted the Israeli-linked MSC Orion container ship with a number of suicide drones in the Indian Ocean.
In the final part of the statement, the Yemeni brigadier general also stated that the Yemeni Armed Forces, with the help of God and the support of the great people of Yemen and the entire free Islamic Ummah, will continue their military operations in support of the oppressed people of Palestine and in defense of beloved Yemen. Brigadier General Saree also emphasized that these operations will not stop except with the lifting of the siege on the Gaza Strip and the cessation of attacks on the people of the besieged area.
The terrorist United States Central Command (CENTCOM) in the West Asia region also issued in a statement, announcing that the Ansar Allah movement’s forces attacked the Greek-flagged vessel Cyclades with three anti-ship ballistic missiles and three drones in the Red Sea between 10:00 and 17:20 (Sana’a time) on April 29.
This statement added that prior to this attack, at 7:49 a.m. on the same day, CENTCOM forces successfully destroyed an Ansar Allah suicide drone that was heading towards the USS Philippine Sea and USS Laboon warships in the Red Sea. According to CENTCOM, these attacks did not result in any casualties, and the Greek vessel continued on its course after the attack.
The Cyclades is a bulk carrier that has been operating under the Maltese flag since 2017. The last known origin and destination of this vessel was from about a month ago, and its latest movements have not been recorded. According to a report from the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO), the vessel was attacked about 54 miles northwest of the port of Al-Mokha in the western region of Yemen.
The MSC Orion is a container ship that has been operating under the Madeira flag since 2020. This vessel was en route from Portugal to the port of Salalah in Oman.
According to statistics collected by the IWN, the drone attack by the Yemeni Army on the US warships is the 74th, the missile attack on the Cyclades vessel is the 75th, and the drone attack on the MSC Orion is the 76th official attack on illegal vessels (belonging to the Israeli regime, the US, the UK, and their affiliates) in the Red Sea, the Arabian Sea, and the Indian Ocean.
