Turkish Air Force Operation in the North of Iraq Against PKK
ISWNews Analysis Group: Turkish warplanes struck more than 80 PKK targets in northern regions of Iraq in an operation named “Claw-Eagle”.
According to Turkish Defence Ministry report, during this operation 81 PKK positions in the northern regions of Iraq have been bombed and destroyed by Turkish army fighter jets and drones.
Turkey’s Defence Ministry said fighter jets, UAVs, satellite and tanker planes participated in the operation.
Local sources also have reported of bombardment of Sanjar, Bradust heights, Makhmour and Qandil mountains by Turkey.
The operation comes as Turkish intelligence chief Hakan Fidan recently traveled to Baghdad to meet with Iraqi officials.
After PKK attack on Iran gas pipe line to Turkey on March 31, the Turkish army has intensified its attacks on this group positions.
