The missile was presented by Brigadier General Hossein Dehghan on 11 October 2015.

Emad is a single stage liquid propelled with a detaching warhead which was expanded from Qadr missile. It has a range of 1,500 to 1,700 km and can carry up to 750 kg of HE.

Detaching warhead with canard based guidance system increases the hitting accuracy significantly.
