Daraa militants start to evacuate Daraa al-Balad
ISWNews Analysis Group: Following the Russian ultimatum to the militants in the Daraa al-Balad neighborhood, a number of armed members accepted an agreement with the Syrian government and handed over their weapons to the Syrian army.
As of yesterday, after the agreement between the Russian military and the Central Committee of Daraa (affiliated to the militants) to implement the ceasefire, about 60 militants surrendered their weapons to the Syrian army. Under the new agreement, those who do not hand over their weapons will be prosecuted.
According to a new agreement between the Syrian government and the militants, the following measures will be taken:
1- Establishment of 9 checkpoints in different areas of Daraa al-Balad under the supervision of the Russian military police and with the flags of Russia and Syria.
2- Determining the status of conscripts and fugitive soldiers.
3- The transfer of militants who are oppose the agreement to the north of Syria.
4- Inspection of some areas.
Clashes in Daraa al-Balad are now over, and Russian forces entered Daraa al-Balad around 10 a.m. (local time) on September 6th.
