Israeli Defense Minister’s Cleaner Charged With Spying for Iran
ISWNews Analysis Group: Israel’s domestic security agency has charged and arrested a cleaner at the house of Defense Minister Benny Gantz with espionage for Iran.
The Israeli Internal Security Agency (Shin Bet) has announced that a cleaner at the home of Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz has been arrested on charges of passing information to a person linked to the Black Shadow hacker group.
An Israeli citizen named “Oren Gorn” connected to a person who was connected to the black shadow hacker group through a social network. Shin Bet claims that Goren allowed the installation of malware that allowed access to the Gantz computer.
Goren contacted the group via telegram under a false identity, announcing that he was working for the Israeli Defense Minister and that he could comply with their demands in exchange for payment. To substantiate his claim, he photographed a number of objects in different parts of the Israeli Defense Minister’s house and sent them to the hacker group. He photographed Gantz’s desk, computer, safe, phone and tablet.
According to the Israel Internal Security Agency, Goren was unable to carry out his plans to undermine national security due to his rapid arrest, and because of the data security protocol at Gantz’s residence, he did not have access to any classified information and therefore could not access any classified information.
Oren Gorn is 37 years old and a native of Al-Lod and has a criminal record of 14 arrests, five convictions and four separate prison terms.
