Syria: The SDF Arrests Civilians In Raqqa
ISWNews Analysis Group – The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) arrested a number of civilian residents of Raqqa Governorate, which is located in northern Syria, under the excuse of fighting the ISIS terrorist group, and transferred the detainees to an unknown place.
Following the intensification of the attacks by unidentified elements on the Kurdish militants and their headquarters in the Raqqa Governorate, the Syrian Democratic Forces initiated an extended operation in the Raqqa city and its outskirts.
The SDF arrested five civilians in different quarters of the Raqqa city and more than 10 others during their raids on villages and northern areas of the Raqqa Governorate. All detainees have been moved to an unknown place.
It is worth mentioning that the operation kicked off after some regiments of the Kurdish militants were dispatched to Raqqa following the assassination of two SDF forces in the Raqqa-Samrah Road by unidentified militias. On December 26, 2022, two ISIS terrorists raided a military base belonging to the Kurdish militants in al-Dariya neighborhood, western Raqqa city, which left six SDF forces dead.
