US Diplomatic Delegation Meets Azerbaijan President
Administrator of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Samantha Power, heading a diplomatic delegation, has met with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in continuation of her visit to the Caucasus region.
The centerpiece of the meeting was to discuss easy access to the Nagorno-Karabakh region and addressing the situation of thousands of Armenian people trapped in the Lachin corridor.
In a discussion with Azerbaijan’s president, the US representative emphasized the presence of international observers in Nagorno-Karabakh to examine the rights of the Armenian people as well as ensure the security of cultural and religious sites, and called for the continuation of negotiations.
It should be mentioned that over the past few days, more than 65,000 Armenian people residing in Nagorno-Karabakh have arrived in Armenian territories, and thousands more have stopped in heavy traffic on the route from Lachin to Armenia.
