Israel Setting Up Drone Manufacturing Plant In Morocco
The Moroccan monarchy and the Israeli regime have had special military relations for years. After Israeli regime’s agreement with some Arab rulers under the Abraham Accords in 2020, the relationship between the two sides have become public, and the Israeli regime is openly engaging in military contracts with Morocco. The construction of a drone production plant in Morocco is one of the latest military agreements between the two regimes that is being implemented.
In September 2022, the Moroccan army had purchased dozens of vertical take-off WanderB and ThunderB drones from the Israeli company BlueBird Aero Systems. However, in the past few days, Ronen Nadir, the CEO of BlueBird Aero Systems, confirmed that the local drone production site has been established in Morocco over the past months and will soon begin assembling drones.
According to the disclosed information about the military relations between Morocco and the Israeli regime, the government in Rabat has so far purchased the Barak MX defense system as well as Heron and Harop drones from Israel Aerospace Industries, plus the Skylock Counter-UAS System and the WanderB and ThunderB VTOL drones from the BlueBird Aero Systems.
The Moroccan government has allocated a budget of over $12.88 billion to its defense industry in 2024, and based on the military cooperation agreement concluded with the Israeli regime in 2021, the Moroccan military industries will develop with the assistance of Israeli regime’s experience and experts. This signifies the increasing influence and penetration of the Israeli regime in Morocco.
The establishment of an Israeli drone manufacturing line is also defined in this regard. This demonstrates that the Israeli regime and Morocco are rapidly expanding their military cooperation, a matter that may severely threaten the security of the countries in North and West Africa.
It is worth mentioning that the Moroccan monarchy has been involved in a long-standing war with the Polisario Front over the occupation of Western Sahara for years. Moreover, Morocco’s relations with its only eastern neighbor, Algeria, are tense. Interestingly, Algeria has the clearest and most intense enmity with the Israeli regime among all Arab countries and also supports the Polisario Front in the Western Sahara conflict against Morocco. Therefore, the Israeli regime’s infiltration into Morocco is a carefully calculated and planned matter, similar to the Israeli regime’s infiltration into the Republic of Azerbaijan and what is happening the West Asian country.
