Ceasefire Violation in Nagorno-Karabakh
ISWNews Analysis Group: The third ceasefire in Nagorno-Karabakh was violated by artillery bombardment of Armenian and Azerbaijani positions.
On October 25, the US State Department in a joint statement with France and Russia announced a new ceasefire agreement from Monday morning in Nagorno-Karabakh. However, just minutes after the ceasefire began, each side accused another side of violating the ceasefire agreement.
Azerbaijan has stated that Armenian artillery targeted the Tovuz, Gadabay, Dashkesen, Tartar and Aghdam regions and some southern regions of Nagorno-Karabakh. On the other hand, Armenia stated that Azerbaijani artillery had bombed the northeastern regions of Nagorno-Karabakh.
Therefore, the third declared ceasefire in Nagorno-Karabakh is practically ineffective and violated and the clashes continue.
On October 29, Geneva will host a meeting of the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan with the Co-Chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group. However, considering the situation on the ground, it seemed very unlikely that this meeting would have an effective and specific outcome.
