Azerbaijan Republic and Armenia have always shown that they are very talented in confronting and creating tensions against each other, and every minor issue can cause a tension or crisis between the two countries. In the latest examples of such tensions, Azerbaijan’s flag was burned in a weightlifting event in Yerevan and a shooting occurred in border areas between Armenia’s Gegharkunik and Azerbaijan’s Kalbajar.

In the southernmost part of the Caucasus, Iran shares a 750-kilometer border with Azerbaijan and the Nakhchivan region, of which about 138 km had been controlled by Armenian forces after the end of the First Nagorno-Karabakh War (1991–1994). After the Second Karabakh War in 2020, these areas returned to the sovereignty of Azerbaijan. For its part, Iran’s border with Armenia is only 40 km and yet is considered a lifeline for the three million Armenians whose landlocked country has been regionally isolated by Azerbaijan and Turkey.

A new controversial video has been published of captured Armenian soldiers who are surrounded by Azeri forces and are executed against international laws. This video has been widely surfaced on social media and Caucasus media and has attracted a lot of attentions.
