Latest Military Situation in South of Karabakh, 19 October 2020 (Map Update)
ISWNews Analysis Group: The Azerbaijani army managed to clear 13 new villages in the Jabrayil district(rayon) in the south of Karabakh region from the Armenian forces.
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev announced that Azerbaijani forces took control of the villages of Soltanli, Emirvarli, Mashanli, Hasanli, Alikeykhanli, Gumlag, Hajili, Goyerchinveysalli, Niyazguzlar, Kechel Memmedli, Shahvelli, Haji Ismayilli and Isagli in the south of Karabakh region.
Currently, clashes continue in the southern axis of Nagorno-Karabakh. Elham Aliyev stated that the mentioned progress was made in response to the violation of the ceasefire agreement by Armenia. Aliyev’s claim in this regard comes at a time when Azerbaijan has the upper hand in the battles of Nagorno-Karabakh, and obviously in such a situation Azerbaijan will not accept a ceasefire; Therefore, Aliyev’s claim that the progress is due to a violation of the ceasefire by Armenia is only an excuse.
