ISWNews Analysis Group: Clashes between the PKK militants and Turkish Army continued in north of Iraq.
On 28 May PKK forces engaged Turkish army in Metina area. PKK claims to kill and wound four Turkish soldiers. Later, Turkish artillery shelled the areas Haruri and Metian severely. PKK claims to destroy a Turkish IFV and ambush Turkish soldiers on Zandura hill in Metina area.
PKK also said that six of their militants killed from 18 to 30 May in the conflicts. PKK accuses Turkey of using chemical weapon in Zap area. It is noteworthy that due to Turkish warplanes roads to Zap and Avashin areas the plants of the area caught fire.
Since Turkish army’s assault to north of Iraq for pretext of fighting with PKK since 24 April so far, 47 residential areas in Iraq’s Kurdistan are evacuated.
Turkish DM claimed that in Pence-Simsek and Pence-Yildirim operations in north of Iraq’s Kurdistan, 142 of PKK members including a field commander are killed and 57 caves and 110 safe havens destroyed.
