ISWNews Analysis Group: On April 13, the vehicle of the lawyer and representative of the Iranian embassy in Iraq was attacked in the Baghdad’s Kadhimiya neighbourhood by unknown individuals but he was survived the attack.
The consul of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Baghdad confirmed the news and announced: “At 12:50 this afternoon, Mr. Amjad Mohammad Hossein Al-Musawi, a lawyer and legal representative of the embassy in the city of Kazemin, was attacked by armed assailants. Praise be to God, he was not harmed but his personal car was damaged. The case is also being pursued through Iraqi legal channels.”
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
The attack on the representative of the Iranian embassy in Iraq took place while earlier on April 11, Iran announced the change of its ambassador to Iraq. The new Iranian ambassador to Iraq is an Iraqi born from Najaf and could further improve relations between Iran and Iraq. The failed assassination of the Iranian embassy lawyer in Baghdad may be a sabotage operation to undermine this issue.
