Turkish Army Bombs Northern Iraq + Video
ISWNews Analysis Group: On January 22, Turkish aircraft bombed areas in northern Iraq, injuring a number of civilians.
According to reports, Turkish aircraft targeted a car in the village of Gary in the Chamanki district, which is said to belong to PKK, injuring four civilians, including two children. Turkish Air Force also severely targeted areas near Haji Imran, killing about 300 sheep in one of the attacks.
The bombing of northern Iraq is continued by Turkey as President Recep Tayyip Erdogan once again spoke out about the attack on Sinjar. “Maybe one night we will suddenly come to get Sinjar,” Erdogan said, referring to one of his previous remarks about Sinjar.
Erdogan also announced the possibility of a joint Turkey-Iraqi operation against PKK militants in Sinjar. However the Iraqi authorities have not yet responded to this statement.
The threat of Erdogan’s attack on Sinjar comes as the Turkey’s Defense Minister traveled to Iraq last week to meet with Iraqi and Kurdish officials.
