ISWNews Analysis Group: On August 25, after several weeks of fighting between the militants and the Syrian army in different parts of Daraa province, the first group of militants in Daraa al-Balad left for the northern regions of Syria with the mediation of Russia.

In line with the agreement reached in the southern province of Daraa, Russian military police entered the Daraa al-Balad neighborhood in the city of Daraa. The first part of the Daraa militants were also transferred from Daraa al-Balad to the northern city of Al-Bab under the supervision of the Russian military police. According to the agreement, those who want to leave Daraa can leave, and those who want to stay must hand over their weapons to the Syrian army.

Despite the deployment of Russian military police and the Syrian army’s agreement with the militants, the clashes were expected to end, but yesterday’s clashes, which caused material damage to homes and infrastructure; It affected the transfer of militants from the city of Daraa. After the clashes, the Syrian army reopened the Saraya crossing for hours to allow civilians to flee from the militant-held areas to areas controlled by the Syrian government, and provided a temporary accommodation center with basic equipment for refugees.

In any case, the process of expelling the militants from the city of Daraa has resumed again on August 25. Syrian security force have released a list of about 100 militants who took part in security and criminal incidents in Daraa province and demanded their expulsion from Daraa.

Also on August 24, a convoy of the Syrian army consisting of several armored vehicles, tanks and logistical equipment entered the city of Daraa. A number of Syrian Army auxiliary forces were also stationed in the western part of Daraa.

However, due to the ceasefire violation by the militants and the continuation of SAA scattered clashes with the militants, it is unlikely that the security situation in Daraa province will stabilize with the withdrawal of a number of militants from Daraa. It seems the calmness is still far away from Daraa province!
