Yemeni Army Conducts Attack On US Destroyer, Ship Affiliated To Israeli Regime
Major General Yahya Saree, the spokesman for the Yemeni Armed Forces, issued a statement announcing the attack on the USS Mason, a United States destroyer, and the bulk carrier ship called Destiny.
Major General Yahya Saree said in this statement about the recent attacks by the Yemeni army: “The Yemeni army forces targeted the American destroyer USS Mason with a number of naval missiles in the Red Sea in a military operation. The ship Destiny was also targeted in a joint naval, missile and drone operation by the Yemeni Armed Forces in the Red Sea.”
He went on to say that targeting the Destiny ship came after it had, on April 20, resorted to deceptive tactics and camouflage under the pretext of heading to another port in order to cross the framework of the ban on ships heading to the occupied Palestinian ports, and sailed to the port of Umm al-Rashrash (Eilat). However, after surveillance and follow-up by our armed forces and the warnings given for not entering the occupied Palestinian ports, it was included in the list of ships to be targeted.
Major General Yahya Saree emphasized at the end of the statement that the Yemeni Armed Forces, with the help of the almighty God and then with the support of the great people of Yemen and all the free people of the Islamic Ummah, will continue their military operations in support of the oppressed Palestinian people and in defense of beloved Yemen. These operations will not stop except with the lifting of the siege imposed on the Gaza Strip as well as the cessation of aggression against the people of the war-torn area.
The ship Destiny is a Liberian-flagged bulk carrier that has been active since 2010. The details of its latest origin and destination have not been recorded on maritime monitoring websites, and in its most recent journey, the ship sailed from Bangladesh to the port of Jeddah in Saudi Arabia.
According to IWN figures, the Yemeni army’s attacks on the USS Mason and the bulk carrier Destiny are the 80th and 81st official attacks by Yemeni forces against illegal ships (Israeli, American, British vessels as well as ships affiliated with them) in the Red Sea, the Arab Sea and the Indian Ocean.
