ISWNews Analysis Group: US and NATO forces claimed to have evacuated and handed over Camp Morehead in Kabul to the Afghan army.

According to Hibatullah Alizai, commander for the 209th Shaheen Corps of the Afghan National Army, US and NATO handed over control of the Camp Morehead during a ceremony.
The Camp Morehead or Rishkhor base is the third base the United States and NATO claimed to have evacuated and handed over to Afghan forces, after Antonik and Mike Spann bases.

The base is located in the Chahar Asyab area, south of Kabul, and has been used to train and advise Afghan forces. However some media outlets have described the base as a secret US prison in Kabul.
Prior to the US and NATO entry into Afghanistan, the Camp Morehead was used at various times by Soviet paratroopers, Hezb-e-Islami forces (under Gulbuddin Hekmatyar), and the Taliban. The base was part of al-Qaeda training camps during the Taliban era and is known as bin Laden’s “University of Terror.”
