IS-KP attacks Taliban positions in Kunar and Kabul provinces
ISWNews Analysis Group: The ISIS terrorist group targeted Taliban positions by two separate attacks in Kabul and Kunar provinces, killing and wounding several Taliban members.
One person was killed and two others were injured in an explosion in the “Tank Logar” neighborhood of the Kabul PD-8, according to Taliban Deputy Spokesman, Aqil Jan Azzam. According to local sources, the only victim of the incident is the person who was mistakenly shot at by Taliban militants.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack. But in light of previous ISIS attacks in Kabul, the attack was also carried out by members of the group.
On the other hand, ISIS has issued a statement claiming responsibility for operations against a Taliban base in the Chawki area of Kunar province. The attack took place on December 13th, and resulted in the death and wounding of an unknown number of Taliban forces.
In this attack, ISIS first targeted the base with several rockets and then entered into an armed conflict with Taliban militants. Clashes lasted for hours and ended with the escape of ISIS militants from the area.
Kunar province is the second most insecure region in eastern Afghanistan after Nangarhar province. There are fossilized people! with Wahhabism tendencies among the residents of Kunar province, and this could increase the spread of ISIS in eastern Afghanistan.
