IS-KP attacks Taliban positions in Kabul and Logar provinces
ISWNews Analysis Group: The ISIS terrorist group targeted Taliban positions by two armed attacks in Kabul and Logar provinces.
According to IS-KP media statements, the group’s operatives targeted a vehicle belonging to Taliban militant in the Bot Khak neighborhood of Kabul PD-22 on Tuesday, December 14th. An unknown number of Taliban members have been killed and wounded in the attack.
In the second attack, a Taliban checkpoint in the first district of Pol-e Alam, the capital of Logar province, was hit by an explosive device. A number of Taliban members were killed and wounded in the attack.
The ISIS terrorist group, while publishing the details of these attacks, has issued another statement claiming responsibility for yesterday’s explosion in the PD-8 of Kabul, claiming that eight Taliban members were killed and wounded.
Despite repeated denials by Taliban officials and their negligence in dealing with ISIS, the IS-KP has expanded its activities to the north and east of Afghanistan. Given the history of ISIS activities in Syria and Iraq, this widespread activity is by no means normal and requires a more specific cooperation between Afghanistan neighbouring intelligence agencies.
