Yemeni Army Shoots Down United States MQ-9 Drone
The air defense of the Yemeni army has successfully destroyed a United States MQ-9 drone in the sky over the northern governorate of Al Hudaydah by firing a surface-to-air missile.
Last night, on February 18, the Yemeni air defense identified and targeted a US MQ-9 drone in the north of Al Hudaydah Governorate and hit the UAV with a surface-to-air missile.
According to Brigadier General Yahya Sare, spokesperson for the Yemeni armed forces, this drone was engaged in operations in support of the Israeli regime in the Yemeni sky when it was attacked and accurately hit by the Yemeni army’s air defense forces.
It is worth mentioning that the Yemeni army’s air defense also successfully destroyed another group of MQ-9 drones over the Red Sea on November 8, 2023.
The latest attack is considered the sixth successful operation by the Ansar Allah movement against MQ-9 drones in recent years, and previously, five groups of MQ-9 drones had been destroyed in the skies over the Yemeni governorates of Sanaa, Al Hudaydah, Dhamar, Marib, as well as the Red Sea.
