Will Beit Lahia be besieged by Israeli forces, as its army is advancing in northern Gaza Strip? (Map)
On the 59th day of clashes between Palestinian resistance groups and the Israeli regime’s army in various areas of the Gaza Strip, Israeli forces have succeeded in advancing in some areas.
In the northern axis of the Gaza Strip, in Jabalia area, the exchange of fire between Palestinian fighters and Israeli troops has intensified in recent hours. Israeli forces succeeded in advancing near the Al-Falouja cemetery following a fierce confrontation in that area and they are now stationed around two squares of Abu Sharar and Abu Sharkh, as well as Sabih area, according to field reports.
Israeli soldiers, after being stationed in those areas, besieged the Shadia Abu Ghazaleh School. Eyewitnesses report that non-combatants have been targeted by Israeli snipers who are stationed in buildings around Abu Sharkh Square, and the bodies of martyrs have been seen on the streets of that area.
In addition, Israeli forces succeeded in advancing near the residential area of Sheikh Zayed, located in the south of Beit Lahia. According to available information, Israeli tanks penetrated the surrounding areas of the Al-Barawi gas station, and Israeli forces cut off access to the Beit Lahia Al-Aam street. The Israeli army’s artillery targets the surrounding areas of Kamal Adwan Hospital, and the sound of armed clashes is heard near this health center.
It seems that the Israeli regime’s army intends to besiege the remaining areas of Beit Lahia city in northern Gaza Strip by simultaneously advancing in Al-Falouja from the left axis and Sheikh Zayed areas from the right axis, in a bid to trap Palestinian fighters in this area. If this is true, the defensive barrier of Palestinian resistance fighters in Beit Lahia would be removed, and the Israeli army would totally focus on the Jabalia camp.
Other reports show that fierce clashes continue in the Beit Hanoun area, and the Israeli regime’s control over that area is not yet complete.
The central areas of the Gaza Strip have also witnessed the Israeli regime’s army’s advances. On Monday, the Israeli army advanced in the north of Salah al-Din Road and reached the Al-Birka area. Currently, clashes are ongoing in the Um al-Zahir and at the end of Al-Birka Street, especially around the industrial school. The Israeli army intends to reach the coastal areas located in the west of Deir al-Balah city by advancing in this axis and thus fully connect this city with the southern areas of the Gaza Strip.
