After a period of tension and power struggles between Southern Transitional Council (STC) fighters, Hadhramaut tribes, and Islah Party elements, the southerners—backed by the UAE—launched an operation yesterday under the name “Promising Future” to seize northern areas of Hadhramaut province. They marched toward Seiyun and swiftly took control of all military bases in Wadi Hadhramaut and key sites including Seiyun, the provincial capital, with minimal resistance.

In response to a request for support from Hadhramaut tribes during a recent meeting in the Al-Aleeb area, Saudi Arabia dispatched a large convoy of Al-Dara’ Al-Watan forces, consisting of 200 military vehicles, to the city of Seiyun in northern Hadhramaut province.

Following a tribal council meeting in the Al-Aleeb area of the Hadhramaut plateau, the Hadhramaut Tribal Council issued a statement placing the Hadhramaut Protection Forces on high alert and granting them full authority to take immediate and preemptive action against any external forces entering the province.

The battlefronts in the provinces of Ma’rib, Al-Jawf, and the southern regions remain under ceasefire between Yemeni armed forces and Saudi-led coalition forces. However, tensions persist in occupied areas of Yemen between factions aligned with Saudi Arabia and the UAE, including the Islah Party, Tariq Saleh’s forces, and other armed groups.

Saudi Arabia has resorted to new measures in the oil-rich Hadhramaut Governorate to counter the increasing influence of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) militants and prevent them from controlling the oil fields in this eastern governorate.

The US Marine occupying forces were stationed in the town of al-Ghurfa in the western suburbs of the city of Seiyun in Hadhramaut province.
