Syrian Government Strongly Condemned the US-Turkish ‘Safe Zone’ in Northern Syria
ISWNews Analysis Group: The Syrian government, in a statement, strongly protested the “Safe Zone” agreement and joint patrols by US and Turkish forces in northeast Syria, saying its an obvious violation of international law and the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Syrian Republic.
The Syrian Foreign Ministry cited recent developments on Syria’s northeastern border as a clear violation of international law and a violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Syrian Republic, saying the “Safe Zone” agreement represents complete enmity with Syria, aimed at complicating the situation in Syria and prolonging of the war in the war-torn country, just after the victories and achievements that the Syrian Army has made in the battles against the terrorists.
The Syrian government, while rejecting the agreement, reaffirmed that it would stand up to any project aimed at destroying Syria’s unity and territorial integrity, and is determined to do so.
Syria protests the deal while the Syrian Democratic Forces(SDF) on the other hand welcomed the US-Turkish agreement to ease tensions between Turkey and the Kurds in northern Syria.
