Double attack to Erdogan
In the last week, Reza Zarrab’s statement (Iranian-Turkish businessman) in a US court put Erdogan government under sever pressure.
At the same time, Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu leader of Republican People’s party, the biggest opposition party in Turkish Parliament, accused Erdogan’s relatives and dependents that they transferred 15 million USD out of Turkey under a company to evade tax. Kılıçdaroğlu also claimed that he has all the swift evidences of these transactions.
These allegations are so heavy that Erdogan said if they are proved he will resign from power otherwise Kılıçdaroğlu must resign. Erdogan also claimed that Zarrab’s statements are fake and the court is just a game. He also mentioned that Kılıçdaroğlu’s allegations are conducted by Abdullah Gülen.
Now Erdogan’s hopes are on two matters inside Turkey:
- His traditional followers who are a big portion of religious people in Turkey.
- Justice system of Turkey which after the coup in 2016 was altered to be dependent to him mainly. As if this situation happened before 2016 coup, political life of Erdogan would be in jeopardy.
