Iraq’s Hashd Al-Shaabi: US Consulate Behind Basra Chaos

Islamic World News Analysis Group: Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis deputy chairman of PMU, one of the country’s official branches of armed forces, pointed the finger at the US consulate in Basra for the recent riots.

He said: “We will provide evidence and complete information on the involvement of the US consulate in Basra to the authorities, US consulate in Basra is provoking Basra protests to ignite Shiite civil war and force rivals to accept Abadi as prime minister.”

 

“The US had threatened that Basra would be set ablaze if the current prime minister does not win a second term.” , he Added.

 

Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis said that what is happening in Basra is similar to what happened in Egypt after the fall of the regime of Hosni Mubarak, adding: “We controlled the situation since yesterday night and we will prevent it in any other places.”

 

The deputy chairman of the Popular Mobilization criticized Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi for refusing to support the Hashd al-Shaabi forces and accusing the PMU of offering unreal statistics for people on the payroll : “We asked Abadi to allocate salaries for the fighters of the PMU, which has not been implemented until now! What we have demanded is to provide simple rights to the fighters of the PMU .”

He added: “Abadi did not fulfill most of his promises to the PMU and deliberately obstruct the PMU activities.”

 

He pointed out that the only country that supported Iraq in its war against “ISIS” was Iran, pointing out that “the American presence under the cover of the coalition did not provide any assistance until after the lifting of the siege on Samarra and the liberation of Jurf al Sakhar.”

 

He pointed out that the American envoy and the British and Saudi ambassadors are wandering from house to house and threatening politicians,and said: “the American insistence is behind something dangerous and politicians must overcome the pressures and impose the will of Iraq. “
